Pleuger StEnSEA Featured in Aktiv im Norden
We’re proud to announce that the Pleuger StEnSEA project has been featured in the July edition of Aktiv im Norden, a leading German industry magazine. The article, titled “Energy from the Depths,” explores how this innovative offshore energy storage technology is helping shape the energy systems of tomorrow.
Pleuger StEnSEA is an advanced long-duration storage solution that uses hollow concrete spheres placed on the seabed. These spheres act as a pumped hydro system that can store and release energy based on demand. This approach offers a scalable, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional energy storage methods.
“Storing extra energy from renewables is a challenge, but StEnSEA could be a key part of the solution. Offshore storage like this helps build reliable access to clean energy,”
says Edris Faez, Head of Internal Sales & Technology at Pleuger Industries.
The article highlights how Pleuger StEnSEA supports the global energy transition by enabling grid flexibility, especially in regions with high shares of wind and solar power. By using offshore space efficiently, the system helps avoid land use conflicts and integrates well with existing marine infrastructure.
This publication further demonstrates our leadership in clean tech innovation and our commitment to supporting a sustainable, reliable, and future-proof energy system.
