PUMP-AS-TURBINE
Energy harnessing for renewable storage.
PLEUGER Pump-as-Turbine (PaT) technology turns the challenge of renewable energy storage into an opportunity.
Our submersible motor pumps operate in reverse to convert the potential energy of water into electrical power. By installing spherical storage tanks on the seabed, the immense ambient pressure drives water through the PaT unit in turbine mode, generating electricity as the tanks fill. The same unit switches to pump mode to empty the tanks, creating a seamless cycle of sustainable energy storage.

WIND
Every stage of offshore wind development.
Offshore wind power is transforming energy worldwide, delivering clean electricity to millions. PLEUGER is at the heart of this revolution, powering the critical systems that make it possible.
Our submersible motor pumps ensure the reliable cooling of HVDC transformers – key to transmitting electricity from offshore wind turbines to shore. With unmatched reliability, 24/7 performance our solutions keep even remotely operated turbines running smoothly.
From BorWin Alpha to BorWin 6, East Anglia 3, and USA Sunrise Wind, PLEUGER is trusted on the world’s largest offshore wind projects. Our seawater lift pumps, built with Super Duplex stainless steel, thrive in the harshest environments, providing essential firewater and cooling solutions for decades. Our submersible pumps, motors and thrusters support trenchers, installation, and service vessels across Europe and Asia such as the Fred Olsen Windcarrier – Blue Tern.
ONSHORE
GEOTHERMAL
Specialist pumps. Deep expertise.
PLEUGER pumps are used worldwide to ensure minimal energy waste and maximise efficiency for district heating projects, including the Netherlands, Slovenia and Iceland.
Our pumps are at the heart of France’s geothermal energy sector, with installations in major hubs like Paris and Bordeaux. From delivering 250 m³/h of water at 109 meters in Mont-de-Marsan to managing deep geothermal flows exceeding 280 meters in Jonzac, Pleuger provides solutions for demanding environments. With installations since 1984, PLEUGER geothermal pump solutions play a crucial role in France’s transition to sustainable energy. Operating in regions like Mont-de-Marsan and Bordeaux Mérignac, our pumps support high-capacity geothermal systems, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering carbon emissions.
PLEUGER pumps have also powered hydrotherapy solutions across France for over four decades, with installations in renowned spa towns such as Jonzac, Dax, and Aix-les-Bains. As a trusted partner to 10% of France’s thermal stations, PLEUGER contributes to the €800 million hydrotherapy industry that supports local economies, promotes wellness, and preserves the cultural heritage of spa towns. Supporting thermal flows of up to 120 m³/h, our pumps are engineered to handle the unique challenges of high-temperature, aggressive, mineral-rich waters. From the 76°C thermal waters of Ax-les-Thermes to the high-capacity systems in Dax, PLEUGER pumps help improve quality of life for hundreds of thousands of people each year.

PUMP-AS-TURBINE
Turning gravity into power.
In reverse operation, PLEUGER submersible pumps function as turbines, harnessing the natural flow of water downhill to generate electricity. At a waterworks site, this Pump-as-Turbine (PaT) technology has been delivering clean energy for over 15 years, significantly improving the facility’s energy balance. By reducing operating costs and lowering CO₂ emissions, PLEUGERS’s innovative approach helps utilities achieve greater sustainability while maximizing efficiency.
